Vote for Mirfield Promenade |
I could easily be the first route to have its own blog! I am a four mile stretch of land from Greenwood Lock to Cooper Bridge in Mirfield, West Yorkshire.

Clean for the Queen - 5 March 2016
Clean for the Queen is an opportunity for all of
Mirfield to be involved in a huge clean up of our tow paths. This work will help towards the planned renovation and
improvement of some sections.
We are hoping for many organisations, community groups
and local folk to come together to clean up the tow paths and be sure that we
can benefit from joint working.

Tesco's Bags of Help
Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative across England and Wales. The scheme will see three community groups and projects awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 - all raised from the 5p bag charge.
Bags of Help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags.
The public will now vote in store from 27 February until 6 March on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards.

Mirfield
Promenade in the centre of town, is one of the projects going forward.
We will be removing self-set trees and scrub; putting in new
seating and paving; building flower beds; painting lock gates; planting bulbs
and planting new mature trees.
The
works will be further enhanced by new build development and plans to regenerate
the Library and its environment.
